Canadian Military History 9

Canadian Military History 9

The military history 9 course endeavours to meet the following general learning outcomes:

  • Students will examine the effect of war on our nation.
  • Students will develop an appreciation for Canadian military history.
  • Students will develop an appreciation for the sacrifice made by Canadian service men and women.

It is very important to emphasize that the course will not glorify war. On the contrary, the focus will be on developing an understanding of, and appreciation for, the harsh realities of war and the impact they have on a nation’s identity.

The course will explore the following conflicts in Canadian history: pre-20th century conflict, World War I, World War II, contemporary conflict and the future of the Canadian military.
