Science 10

This general science course meets the needs of students planning to attend university. It includes an introduction to biology, chemistry, and physics and leads to 20 level courses in those three areas or to Science 20.

Science 10i

Designed to meet the needs of pre-IB students, Science 10i places more emphasis on laboratory skills than the regular Science 10 course. It introduces important concepts in biology, chemistry, and physics and leads to Biology 20i, Chemistry 20i, and Physics 20.

Science 14

Science 14 is a general science course meeting the needs of non-academic students. It involves a study of the relationship of science to such important issues as the environment, household products, body systems, and technological change. This course leads to Science 24.

Science 24

Science 24 is a general science course meeting the needs of non-academic students who will complete 10 credits of Science for their high school diploma.  This course involves study in the following areas: matter and chemical change; energy conversion systems; disease defence and human health; and transportation safety.

Chemistry 20, 30

This course sequence is intended for university-bound students with an interest in science. Topics covered in Chemistry 20 include the properties and measurement of matter, bonding, gas laws, stoichiometry, and solutions.  Students in Chemistry 30 will study thermochemistry, electrochemistry, organic chemistry, and acid-base equilibrium systems.

Chemsitry 20i, 30i, 25i

Topics studied in the IB chemistry sequence generally parallel those in the regular chemistry program. However, the IB sequence covers topics in considerably more depth than does the regular chemistry program. The IB courses also include additional topics and they place more emphasis on laboratory work.

Science 20, 30

This course sequence is designed for university-bound students who are not planning to enter a science-dependent faculty or program.  Both courses cover topics in biology, chemistry, physics, and earth science.

Physics 20, 30

This course sequence is intended for university-bound students with an interest in science.  Energy and matter are common themes in both courses.  Topics studied include motion, forces and fields, energy and atomic physics.

Biology 20, 30

This course sequence is intended for university-bound students with an interest in the science of living things.  Human body systems, genetics, and reproduction are examples of the many topics covered in Biology.

Biology 20i, 30i, 25i

Topics studied in the IB biology sequence generally parallel those in the regular biology program. However, the IB sequence covers topics in considerably more depth than does the regular biology program. The IB courses also include additional topics and they place more emphasis on laboratory work.
