Winston Churchill High School

WCHS School Council

The Province of Alberta requires each school to establish a School Council that is charged with responsibility for advising the school principal on matters of school policy.

All parents and guardians of students enrolled at Winston Churchill High School are automatically members of our School Council and all are encouraged and welcome to attend meetings, thus becoming voting members.

We meet on the third Wednesday of each month. At meetings we hear what has been happening in and around the school community from the principal, vice-principals, other parents and occasionally guest speakers. Parents have an opportunity to discuss and advise on matters as they arise. We are also represented at the District School Council and at the Alberta School Councils’ Association.

As a committee within our School Council we are fortunate to also have a Parent Association that has been established as a society in order that we may be eligible for fundraising in accordance with the Alberta Gaming Commission. All funds raised are distributed to a wide a variety of programs throughout the school and we strive to benefit each and every student.

The School Council supports the mission of the school; to provide quality education that challenges students of all abilities in a caring environment in order that they may become lifelong learners and responsible, contributing members of an ever-changing society.

Our vision is to help the school graduate students who excel, and who thrive as individuals within our community.

The ultimate goal of our School Council is to enhance the overall high school experience our students enjoy at Winston Churchill High School.
